Buying from abroad is normal on the Costa del Sol, but it needs structure. The best remote purchases are not rushed; they are filtered carefully before travel, checked legally, and progressed with clear communication between buyer, agent, lawyer and developer or seller.
Start by defining the real brief. Budget, use, area, bedrooms and views are only the surface. You also need to decide how often you will visit, whether you need rental income, whether schools matter and how much driving is acceptable.
A lawyer should be involved before you commit significant money. For non-resident buyers, the lawyer can explain NIE numbers, power of attorney, bank account setup, anti-money-laundering documents, purchase taxes and completion logistics.
Remote viewings can save time, but they should be specific. Ask for orientation, noise, road access, neighbouring plots, storage, parking, community areas and the real walking route to shops or beach. A polished video is not the same as due diligence.
Travel should be used for final confirmation, not the first filter. If your shortlist is already clear, a two-day visit can be enough to compare areas, inspect the best units and make a decision with proper context.
